4 Colors To Embrace This Fall and Winter

By on January 17, 2015

Fall and winter aren’t known for color. Fashions tend to come in darker shades or rich jewel tones at best. This season is different. Rather than black, grey, and brown, there is a diverse color palette hitting stores and streets. This influx of color has dramatically altered the way we look at fall and winter fashion.

According to Leatrice Eiseman, the executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, it gives women a chance to “create an individual imprint” this season. Are you tired of bland shades? Do you want to create an individual imprint of your own? These cold weather approved colors will help you do just that!

Embrace: Romantic Reds

Where to begin? How about with rich shades of red. Unlike that bold, Merry Christmas red, this season is all about romantic reds. Think Sangria. This deeper wine-inspired shade can instantly add glamour and sophistication to your color palette. It adds warmth and intensity without going too far. This is the best place to start for fashion lovers who struggle to include color into their fall and winter wardrobe. Try something simple, like a pair of sangria gloves, hat, or a purse. For color lovers, a sangria pea coat will take your style to the next level.

Embrace: Subtle Purples

Another color you can expect to see this season? Mauve, mauve, and more mauve. While radiant orchid will still make an appearance, mauve is your best bet when the temperatures drop. It exudes a hint of femininity and softness – which is the perfect way to offset the darker toned pieces hanging in your closet. Toss in a mauve top or a statement necklace and see how it transforms your style.

Embrace: All hail the Color Pop!

For the last few seasons, cobalt blue has made a statement. A noticeable color like Cobalt, Bright Yellow, or Kelly Green is great because it is universally flattering and can add a fun pop of color to any look. This season? Swap your standard raspberry scarf out for a brighter version. Bright colors with a green undertone give a fresh appearance. It tends to look brighter and be a little more in-your-face. There are plenty of ways for you to wear it. A good pair of bright skinny jeans can work wonders too – or you can stick to accessories for a subtler pop. It is totally up to you.

Embrace: Soft Yellows

When the world outside is white and snowy (or grey and slushy as the months go by) it feels good to infuse your closet with some warmth. The best color to do that? Misted yellow. This pale shade adds a hint of warmth and joy…. especially since it reminds us that winter won’t last forever. Wear misted yellow in prints, add it to your accessories, or sport a knitted sweater. Just make sure you wear it!

Color is always a good thing. Just because the weather outside is getting colder doesn’t mean you should forget about having fun. Include one of these trendy fall and colors into your wardrobe – and get ready to fall in love with seasonal fashion.
