Everything you need to know about juicing

Find out how you can start juicing!

Have you tried it? Juicing is steadily gaining in popularity. Celebrities are doing it. Health fanatics are doing it. Even Princess Kate is doing it! By extracting juice from your favourite fruits and veggies you increase essential vitamins in your diet. This in turn improves overall health. Or at least that is the idea behind it all. Is juicing something you want to try? Interested in learning more? Then pay attention. This is everything you need to know about the juicing craze.

Decide How You Want to Juice. There is more than one way to incorporate juicing into your lifestyle. For some people? It means having a green juice for breakfast. (Think kale, green apples, and celery.) For others? It means juicing for a short period of time. (Three days to a week.) There are many options. Juicing could be a meal substitute, a temporary diet, or a healthy addition to your everyday diet. Think about your own personal needs. This will help you make the right decision.

Choose Your Fruits and Vegetables Wisely. Not all fruits and veggies are created equally. At least when it comes to juicing. Some create a flavor that is too strong, others don’t blend well together, and some are not organic. A tip? Always, always go organic. You are juicing a whole fruit. That includes the skin and sometimes the peels. The last thing you want to do is ingest dangerous pesticides and chemicals. Unfortunately, when you juice, they become easier to absorb. So, choose organic fruits and vegetables as much as possible. If money is a concern, then avoid the worst offenders – also known as the “dirty dozen.” They are foods like apples, strawberries, and grapes.

Don’t Leave Juice For Long Periods of Time. You want your juice to be as fresh as possible. The reason is simple: to consume as many vitamins and nutrients as possible. Unfortunately juice that is left out will start to lose those essential nutrients. Don’t let it happen to you! Drink your juice within twenty minutes of making it. Otherwise, keep it jarred and in your fridge. Sealed correctly, your beverage should retain its nutrients for two to three days. Something to remember? Organic foods do not lose their nutrients as quickly as non-organic. Buy smart and you can reap all of the rewards…without looking at the clock!

Always Listen To Your Body. The most important thing to know? Listening to your body is a must. Everyone is different and every body is different. So if certain fruits make you feel sick, queasy, or uncomfortable, use less of them. Add more as you get used to the consumption. Or if you find yourself full after drinking half a glass of juice, then stop. If your stomach is rumbling all day long, then drink more or eat something else. Pay attention to your body throughout the day. This will help you juice the right way for you.

More and more people are juicing. You can too! It is a great way to boost your daily intake of fruits and vegetables. Are you ready to take the plunge? Buy organic, focus on freshness, and improve your health.
